The Princess and the Frog is a 2009 American animated princess musical drama film. The film is a traditionally animated Disney movie, in which the story tells about a princess named Tiana, who has been working to save up all her money in order to one day purchase her own restaurant. The film stars Anika Noni Rose as Tiana and Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen. In the year of its release, this PG-rated Walt Disney Pictures-animated feature became an instant hit worldwide, prompting a wide release in various cinemas across India on June 9th 2010. Some of the festival screenings were held in small theatres across India. The film was released to DVD on September 18th 2010 in the US and across Europe on November 25th 2010. A special short film or an add on was also made into the movie called "Tiana and the Quest for Tipitina" which is a side story starring Tiana and Naveen when they go to New Orleans to find a musician, Tipitina. The storyline for this short film, which is set in the 1920s, was drawn by the same animation supervisor who did the backgrounds and other parts of Prince Naveen's story. This short film is played during the credits of the main movie. The Princess and The Frog is presented in Disney traditionally drawn 2-D animation with hand drawn backgrounds to give it a more realistic look than other traditionally drawn Disney movies. The characters are drawn similar to other Disney movies, but slightly exaggerated to give them a nightmarish feel. The Princess and The Frog is set in New Orleans. Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) lives with her father, who works as a trumpet player and his sweetheart Mama Odie (Roscoe Orman). They run a boarding house, which consists of two rooms: an old-fashioned kitchen/living room and a teeny-tiny bedroom for Tiana. When Princess Charlotte, Tiana's older cousin, comes to visit, she sees the state of the boarding house and presents Tiana with an idea: she can sell her favorite flower, the purple frog lily for $100 to raise cash for the boarding house's renovation. Tiana agrees, and uses her savings to buy the lily, after which she collects money from her friends for the renovation. Meanwhile, Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos) is sent to America by his father King Theophilus (Alison Lohman), who believes that the young prince will learn Americans' ways of life better if he goes to an American school. Theophilus warns Naveen against doing anything illegal for fear of reprisals from his subjects, but he is determined to make Naveen into a proper prince. This troubles Tiana's father, who feels that Tiana should be allowed to run the boarding house as she sees fit without interference from the royal family. cfa1e77820
